Brightfield images, combined with the Huygens deconvolution techniques have sofar been treated with special care as, despite its undeniable improvements in SNR and resolution, a true scientific foundation was lacking sofar.
That"s no longer the case as Dr. Marcel Oberlaender et al. from the MPI of Neurobiology in Martinsried now proved the validity of the Huygens deconvolution for brightfield data.

Huygens Software refers to different image processing packages, available for multiple platforms. They are intended for restoration, interactive analysis and volume visualization of 2D, 3D, multi-channel and time series images from fluorescence microscopes. The restoration is based on different deconvolution algorithms, that permit the recovery of s from images that are degraded by blurring and noise. In microscopy the blurring is largely due to diffraction limited imaging by the instrument; the noise is usually photon noise. Our Huygens software will significantly improve your microscopic images! 

Huygens Essential makes high quality deconvolution available for everyone, by combining the latest deconvolution algorithms with an easy graphical user interface. The software improves dramatically the resolution and contrast in your microscopic images while effectively removing haze and noise. In this way, structures and details which would otherwise remain hidden become clearly visible.

Dizzy is a chemical kinetics simulation software package written in the Java programming language. It provides a model definition environment and an implementation of the Gillespie, Gibson-Bruck, and Tau-Leap stochastic algorithms, as well as several ordinary differential equation (ODE) solvers. Dizzy is capable of importing and exporting the SBML model definition language, as well as graphically displaying models using the Cytoscape software system. The various simulation engines can be used to solve the dynamics of a kinetic model from specified initial data. A model consists of a system of interacting chemical species, and the reactions through which they interact. When a model is solved, the results can be plotted, displayed in tabular format, or saved to a file.
